Pageant Fever!
Dateline: "Sin City" Las Vegas, Miss USA 2008. I came ,I saw, and I partied!!!! I just attended the exciting Miss USA 2008 pageant....and the winner is: Miss Texas USA! Or should I say, the FIERCE Miss Texas, as I am calling her. Crystle Stewart was a favorite on a lot of "pageant lists" and she was the one to beat. And no one did! Her walk was fierce, her gown was fierce, in short, she was a pageant DIVA!!! In fact, the 26-year old Crystle had competed in Miss Texas five times before FINALLY winning it. This wasn't her "first time at the Rodeo" and she was going to make all the other girls "bow down" to her. She had this air of actually not being an American girl but actually one from South America or one of those Caribbean islands that keeps winning Miss Universe lately. She talked, walked and acted like a Miss Universe more than a Miss USA, and that's EXACTLY what you should be doing.
It was so much fun attending the live telecast at the
Planet Hollywood Theater of Performing Arts. My partner
David, of course, came with me, and we also went with my sister,
Rita Verreos, who wore a
Spring 2008 NIKOLAKI Grecian Goddess gown.
It was great seeing all the beauty queens from all the different States and various age groups (huney, they have a pageant for tweens, teens, you-name-it, they got it!) at the theater and meeting a lot of fans of
Project Runway. And I've got the photos to prove it! I ran into last year's
Miss Teen USA, the "scandalous"
Katie Blair, looking beautiful in a slinky satin black number.
Immediately following the telecast, I caught up with
last year's Miss California USA, the gorgeous
Meagan Tandy. We designed her evening gown for last year's
Miss USA, when she placed Third Runner Up.
I also congratulated
Miss Alaska USA 2008, Courtney Carroll, in her winning of the
Miss USA 2008 Photogenic Award. Of course, as you may know from my last post, Courtney won wearing the
NIKOLAKI gown we designed for her. She subsequently received her congratulatory bouquet in the silk satin-backed crepe bubblegum pink gown. You can catch me saying 'Hello" to both Meagan and Courtney in exclusive fun videos above.
