"Entourage" actor Rex Lee, "Ugly Betty" actor Michael Urie, and me, Nick Verreos. This past weekend, on Saturday, I was invited by my friends at
ABSOLUT to attend the
2008 GLAAD Media Awards at the
Kodak Theater in Hollywood. I put on my
Marc Jacobs tuxedo (I am really getting my money's worth!) , my
faux black croq skin YSL Johnny Boots and my
orange Hermes scarf and did my best
Thurston Howell III. As my friends know, I have been working the ascot thing since I was a little boy back at UCLA and I have decided to give it another try (it matched the lettering on the
ABSOLUT bottle!).
As I arrived and got my ticket, I was escorted to the media blitz of a red carpet and walked through, did some interviews and told
In Style Magazine that
Tim Gunn was my pick as the Sexiest Man on TV! Speaking of SEXY, I then ran into
Project Runway Season 4 Finalist, LA designer
Rami Kashou on the red carpet, looking very handsome.
Nick Verreos and Rami Kashou, bronzer and sans bronzer. As I made it into the theater--ticket in hand--I could not find my seat for the life of me. I did not know where the "BB" row was. I was finally flagged down and directed to the SECOND ROW! Well, you know I just about died!
I felt like one of those 19 year old kids in the "Mosh pit" of a crazy MTV Movie Awards. It then just got continuously more surreal as I sat there 10 feet away from the absolutely stunning
Tom Ford (wearing a double breasted tuxedo that was FIT and tailored to him within a 1/4" of his lean torso!),
Sharon Stone (looking every bit a fabu-crazy DIVA!),
Janet Jackson (sublime in palazzo-style jacket/jumpsuit) and
Cindy Crawford (gorgeous in red jersey
Alexander McQueen). At 42, Cindy doesn't look a day over 24, when she was at the height of her Supermodel days. Her husband was just as hot (sorry, I had to say that!).
The awards were funny as well as poignant, with highlights being
Kathy Griffin (in black draped
Michael Kors) and her mother's HILARIOUS introduction;
GLAAD President Neil Giuliano's speech, as well as
Joss Stone's performance. The VIP dinner afterward was just as fabulous. I immediately saw my friend, publicist Lee Wallman and her client, the suave
Dirty Sexy Money actor,
William Baldwin and Miss
Candis Cayne, looking every bit a Glamour Goddess in a golden beaded number by
Marc Bouwer. I had a fabulous night and I thank the
Absolut team (Doug, Stephen et al.) PROFUSELY for bestowing me the lucky honor of being their guest. I only wish I could have spent it with my partner David. He stayed home with our new puppy. I gave them all that was in my Goodie Bag!!!
